DIY is all about using your own hands and imagination to make or improve something. And thankfully, you don’t necessarily have to be “skilled” in order to do a good job.
But you do have to be open and willing to research DIY blogs, videos and how-to’s. And I believe you also have to be accepting of the fact that you will probably make mistakes.
Actually, mistakes are not all bad. We each learn through our mistakes. Think of this example: when you were a toddler did you walk immediately? Probably not. It was through the act of trying, failing and getting back up again that you eventually learned how to stand up and walk. We all learn by doing :)
DIY is no different. We start with small projects. Perhaps a needle and thread, like I started. (See that post here http://makingitfabulous.com/a-tribute-to-eva-my-beautiful-mom/)
Then we might graduate to a glue gun. We experience some wins, we have some fails. But all the while, the fails teach us what NOT to do. Next thing you know, you’re using power tools (BUT ONLY WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND SAFETY IN MIND).
There are very few projects that I won’t try at least once :) I hope you will explore all my DIY categories.
And if you don’t find inspo for your particular project in one of my categories, please contact me at http://makingitfabulous.com/contact-me/ I love to help. I can look at photos of what you have, sketch out some ideas for you and help you with your DIY project.
